Start of the force

| Wednesday, June 29, 2016 | 0 comments |
The contents of the new starter set are very nice.  You get models, a fold out map, dice and generic PP branded tokens.  The plastic gives nice crisp detail but its still the resin based hard plastic that requires super glue to put together, and is a bit dense to drill into for pining.

Over all though I like the models and should be a fun start to my new army.

Gone to the squishy side.

Well not so squishy but more so than jacks.   I've wanted to start a Hordes force for awhile and the upcoming Journeyman League at Texas Toy Solider seemed like a great excuse.  I'm running the alternate starter set of Tyrant Xerxis so been buying stuff individually.  I've got the two basilisks assembled and waiting to prime on the 6th when we can start.  This weekends triumph was a fully magnetized heavy titan kit.  I've set it up to go between a titan cannoneer and a titan gladiator.  Including magnetized tusks and back banner for transport.

Should be fun i'll try to keep this site updated with my progress.

Oh and because I have nothing better to do I've also jumped on another journeyman with my convergence set.

Coming along

Got all the glow lines in on the body. Just need to do clean up and some line work. The shoulders will be next.

A small update on a big project.  The Hyperion is coming, slowly.  I'm really liking it and can't wait to get it done and on a table.

Hyperion Pre Assembly
Well a plate full of resin freshly washed ready to start the assembly process.  This I think is going to be a really fun project.

Journeyman update

| Monday, September 24, 2012 | 0 comments |
So start of week one

Manticore/Hydra built and magnetized. Everything else but the griffin has been primed.

The griffin will get assembled tonight, though I was really hoping to not have to assemble another ret light jack.

I mean really just how many ball joints can you have?

The Journy Begins

| Saturday, September 22, 2012 | 0 comments |
So while at the store today getting my ass handed to me by a foot Menoth army, I was also thrown into the briar patch and convinced to join the unoffical Journyman league starting soon.

The "down side" was I had to buy a new heavy jack and caster.  The Journyman rules lay out the following for a Retribution box set

Kaelyssa, Night's Whisper - WJ: +7
- Chimera - PC: 6
- Griffon - PC: 4
- Manticore - PC: 8

I already had the Chimera but luckily it wasn't painted yet.

 So now I have a Manticore/Hydra fully magged to go between either, a fully built Phoenix.  Caster Kaelyssa, Sylys Wyshnalyrr, twin Arcanists, a soulless escort, and a pair of ghost snipers.  I also have a full set of Invictors coming in the mail.

I'll try to keep a running log of my progress and points here.  Partly to brag and partly to keep track..Ok really to brag.

Slowly building steam

Yes I know its been awhile, and that I promised you updates.  The Ret army is slowing chugging along, with a new influx of models coming in the next week.  This new influx will take me up to where I can field a 50 point army!

On the Cygar side I picked up one of the new Heavy Jack kits, and its awesome.  Honestly looking at just the body last night I wished this one had come out long before I would have grabbed a bunch of these and built all my varients off of this one.

Here she is fully magnetized to run between the Avenger and Centurion.  I will end up building out the Hammersmith hands though I doubt it will take the field.  The only down side is the shield army droops down because of the weight of the shield.

Once I get some of the Ret finished up I'll get it posted here.

Triumph the comedy Jack

So I completely missed the deadline and ability to play at the local big game.  I've heard really good things about it and am really upset I missed it.  But real life comes first.  I thought I would include a shot of my newest reinforcement to my Cyngar forces, Triumph.  Folks on the interwebs are very polar about him.  I think he looks cool, saves on some mana here and there when fielded with Siege, so he's in my force.  The original plan was to get ahold of a metal devastator and do the conversion work so he would have a bit more character.  The folks I was trying to get one from were sold out and I don't think PP is casting up an more.  Then came the hunt in the DFW area for a Cygnar heavy Jack kit.  I found it at store 3 of 3 when I went hunting.

Update 10 days and counting

Well, things never go like I want them to, there will be no fully painted army by the event.  I did get a game in last night with the proposed list and while it did OK, I got stomped by elves.  It actually was a good game and a good learning experience.

So the mini's will not be painted because the house has been. I must see to the needs at home before the little plastic and metal men get painted.  I'll probably still have time to build the command trench section, and might get one of the Jacks' fully done by then, but most defiantly not the trenchers.

Trench War 25 Days and counting

So I picked up the last of my models needed last night and pretty well blew my gaming budget for the month.  Here is what I'm looking to have built.  Everything on the list is purchased and at least assembled.

Army Name: Siege 35 Point Trench Army
Cygnar
35+5 points, 17 models

Major Markus 'Siege' Brisbane  +5 points
* Triumph  11 points
* Squire  2 points

Journeyman Warcaster  3 points
* Hunter  6 points

Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator  1 point
Trencher Master Gunner  2 points
6 Trenchers  6 points
* Trencher Officer & Sharpshooter  3 points
* 1 Trencher Rifle Grenadier  1 point
** Grenadier  5 points

By the way this list was put together using iBodger which I can not recommend highly enough for anyone with an Android or iOS device.

Start the Clock

Well I've done something I told myself I'd never do again.  I signed up for a tournament event with out first finishing the army.  Heck none of the proposed forces are even finished at this point.  So I have until August 27th to finish a 35 point Warmachine force.

The gang at Gunslinger Games are hosing a Wrath release event.  I will probably not win anything but I think it will be fun either way.  I had a chance at the Cygnar coin until the other three Cygnar players signed up.

I will be trying to keep track of my progress, as I don't think I'll be giving away any huge advantage to my opponents by posting my force here.  Simply because I can't afford to buy some of the uber units I'd like to play so I'll be fielding a single list all day made up of models I already have.  Coming from and still playing in the 40k world I'm still not used to the concept of multiple lists for an event, but there are actually a couple of soft score points for playing the same caster 5 games in a row.  So win for being cheap!

So keep your eyes peeled for more posts from the road to No Man's Land.

Quick Update

| Sunday, July 3, 2011 | 0 comments |
Just a quick update for the forces of Cygnar.  My recently acquired heavy jack kit is mostly together and fully magnetized.  I only setup two of the three options due to the fact I already had a Ironside from the starter set.  I'm pretty happy with how the cyclones chain guns fit on the right arm, the left arm is fully magnetized at the shoulder the left at the wrist.
